Club Belrose Golf News

The travellers cup was held over two days this year and as always was enjoyed by all that attended.

The Friday night was tame with us picking up 2 meat trays and a vegetable tray in the local golf club raffle before filling up with a nice Chinese and a few beers and wine to finish the evening.

On Saturday we woke to overcast conditions with a cold breeze, which was going to test the golfers amongst us.

The scattered light showers made the going tough and the heavier shower towards the end of the round top it off nicely.

Even in these challenging conditions we had numerous players match their handicaps and the +1 course rating.

The overnight leader was determined by a count back with Mark Bowen (35) just edging out Bob Farquharson (35) thanks to his birdies on the 17th and 18th holes.

3rd place was Mark Kerr (31) and 4th place Brendan Ayres (30)

The nearest the pin on the 10th was won by Mark Bowen

Saturday evening was held at the Benchmark with Pizzas and a few beers and wine while watching the footy.

A nice night and a very short walk home for everyone.

Everyone turned up bright and cheery on the Sunday morning at 7.00 am however the weather had other ideas and proceeded to drown the course.

After some consultation with the course managers, local golfers and our own group it was decided that the days play was to be abandoned.

This resulted in the overnight leader board becoming the final results of the travellers cup - Based on the minimum 18 holes of play from Saturday.

Congratulations to Mark Bowen for defending his title with back to back cup wins.

A small number of our group helped Mark celebrate the win with some beers and bets at the golf club, followed by Chinese paid for from our winnings.

Another successful travellers cup.

The next game is Asquith on the 6th June - 7.00 am tee off.

Our numbers have been limited to 20 people which matches with our current registration list.
